Unity

 Websters 1828 Dictionary:

1. The state of being one; oneness. Unity may consist of a simple substance or existing being, as the soul; but usually it consists in a close junction of particles or parts, constituting a body detached from other bodies. Unity is a thing undivided itself, but separate from ever other thing.

Scriptures:

Psalms 133:1 Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!

Mosiah 18:21
And he commanded them that there should be no contention one with another, but that they should look forward with one eye, having one faith and one baptism, having their hearts knit together in unity and in love one towards another.

D&C 38:27
Behold, this I have given unto you as a parable, and it is even as I am. I say unto you, be one ; and if ye are not one ye are not mine.

Quotes:

Unity is strength... when there is teamwork and collaboration, wonderful things can be achieved.

-Mattie Stepanek-

Where there is unity there is always victory.
-Publilius Syrus-

In those few words He made clear how the gospel of Jesus Christ can allow hearts to be made one. Those who would believe the truth He taught could accept the ordinances and the covenants offered by His authorized servants. Then, through obedience to those ordinances and covenants, their natures would be changed. The Savior’s Atonement in that way makes it possible for us to be sanctified. We can then live in unity, as we must to have peace in this life and to dwell with the Father and His Son in eternity.
-Predisent Henry B. Eyring-

My Thoughts:

As we join together with one intent we are Children of God. Christ would have us be unified as one fold, moving forward together. What is the difference between following and being unified? I think that following is more of a blind step in the direction everyone else is going. Unity is more of a choice directed between people, but it is the right choice and they all choose it together.
