Beloved

Joseph Smith History 1:17 It no sooner appeared than I found myself delivered from the enemy which held me bound. When the light rested upon me I saw two Personages, whose brightness and glory defy all description, standing above me in the air. One of them spake unto me, calling me by name and said, pointing to the other—This is My Beloved Son. Hear Him!

D&C 93:15 And I, John, bear record, and lo, the heavens were opened, and the Holy Ghost descended upon him in the form of a dove, and sat upon him, and there came a voice out of heaven saying: This is my beloved Son.

My Personal Definition:

The word "beloved" is to love someone. It describes someone you love. God loves us and the prophets have said we are "His beloved sons and daughters". I love the scripture in Alma that talks about people who are full of hatred being strangers to God because our Heavenly Father is a God of love. The gospel is about loving those around us. We are siblings, children of a King who loves us and we should not only love Him but we should love each other. To be someones "beloved" is for them to love you. Charity, love, and joy are things the gospel can bring into our lives if we let it.
