If you have felt the influence of the Holy Ghost today, you may take it as evidence that the Atonement is working your life. -Henry B. Eyring

We can't use the Lord's Atonement as an excuse to not empathize with and serve those in pain. We can be the instruments to bring the healing power of Christ to others. Scriptures:

2 Nephi 9:7 Wherefore, it must needs be an infinite atonement—save it should be an infinite atonement this corruption could not put on incorruption. Wherefore, the first judgment which came upon man must needs have remained to an endless duration. And if so, this flesh must have laid down to rot and to crumble to its mother earth, to rise no more.

Alma 42:15 And now, the plan of mercy could not be brought about except an atonement should be made; therefore God himself atoneth for the sins of the world, to bring about the plan of mercy, to appease the demands of justice, that God might be a perfect, just God, and a merciful God also.

Mosiah 13:28 And moreover, I say unto you, that salvation doth not come by the law alone; and were it not for the atonement, which God himself shall make for the sins and iniquities of his people, that they must unavoidably perish, notwithstanding the law of Moses.

Personal Definition:

Christ's suffering in Gesthemane, crucifixion on the cross, and resurrection from the tomb. Through the Atonement we are all forgiven, understood, and provided with a way to live with Heavenly Father and His son Jesus Christ happily for eternity. Because of the Atonement we can be with our families forever. In Mosiah 27:29 it talks about feeling like you're in the gall of bitterness and bond of iniquity. We've all felt the sadness and guilt of sin and through the atonement we can feel lifted from those feelings until we see hope and light again.
