Citszenship

Websters 1828 Dictionary:

The state of being vested with the rights and privileges of a citizen.

Scriptures:

~Mosiah 2:17 And behold, I tell you these things that ye may learn wisdom; that ye may learn that when ye are in the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God.
~Alma 43:9 And now the design of the Nephites was to support their lands, and their houses, and their wives, and their children, that they might preserve them from the hands of their enemies; and also that they might preserve their rights and their privileges, yea, and also their liberty, that they might worship God according to their desires.
~D&C 58:21 Let no man break the laws of the land, for he that keepeth the laws of God hath no need to break the laws of the land.

Quotes:

Being a good citizen means more than just obeying the laws of the land. It also means being actively involved in making our community the best possible place for all to live. As we become good citizens of our community, we are doing the will of our Heavenly Father in that regard.

My Thoughts:

Citizenship isn't just Obeying laws and minding your own business. It's making sure the community is at it's very best, it's caring for others. Just like Nat Bowditch did. He didn't gain all that knowledge to keep it to himself. He shared it with others, he was loved. And he made the place around him better, be it a school a boat, or a house.
